Cheat Day Newsletter 🧀

Get ready to indulge in all things food news...

*insert cheesy pun here*

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is getting a rebrand (just like The Weekly Donut did) to support all of the mothers out there losing their goddamn minds. Kraft reported that 56% of parents have fed their children mac & cheese for breakfast and have done this even more often during the pandemic. The new boxes of mac will have the word 'breakfast' instead of 'dinner' printed on the front to normalize starting your day with cheesy noodles. The weird looking cereal boxes will hit shelves in 2021, and if this is any indication of what next year will hold, we're worried...

Send noods

Macaroni and cheese isn't just for kids who won't stop crying until their mother feeds it to them for breakfast, it's also for hungover college students and middle aged men who still live in their parents' basement. That's why Cheetos released Cheetos Man 'N Cheese in three flavors: Bold & Cheesy, Flamin' Hot, and Cheesy Jalapeño. Your new favorite munchie meal (or snack, we're not judging) is available at Walmart for... wait for it... less than $1! So BRB headed to Walmart now to pick up a few boxes and some stretchy jeans.

Flying first class, up in the sky, poppin' champagne

EVA Air took a 'flight to nowhere' and the destination was exactly where they took off from. In an effort to make more money as airlines have taken a huge hit during the pandemic, EVA hoped that the sights from the plane and food served during flight was worth the $180 economy seat. Unlike other crappy airline food, the meal offered was designed by a three-starred Michelin chef, Motoke Nakamura. The menu included seafood chirashi-sushi rice and beef samba noodles. I love food as much as the next person but IDK man, this just sounds like a waste of Xanax to me.

Currently drinking Grasshoppers

New York legalizes the sale of liquor-infused ice cream and we knew there had to be at least one good reason why we moved to NYC. If you didn't already love Gov. Cuomo, now you will because he said, "This legislation will further grow a burgeoning industry and boost small businesses while helping to put them on a path of sustained growth that empowers both producers and consumers." And Cuomo (can I call you Cuomo? Are we on that level yet?), if you ever want to go out for a drink or ice cream or drink/ice cream date, I'm your girl. But in all seriousness, I'm just glad I don't have to DYI my own anymore and pour shots of whiskey in my Ben & Jerry's pint while I binge watch The Real Housewives of Potomac.

Pop(corn) Culture

Reach for the stars, if you fall you'll land on #CloudBread

First dalgona coffee, now cloud bread. TikTok has done it again and all you need is egg whites, cornstarch, sugar, and vanilla essence. Cloud bread, the latest viral food trend, gets whisked together then baked to create a cotton-candy-like bread. It's gluten free, keto-friendly, and apparently tastes like heaven. Now you might actually start your no carb diet instead of pushing it off just one more day... and I might too.

Lick deeze nuts

Remember when Mr. Peanut died and recreated as Baby Nut? Yea, we blocked that memory out too... Well now, Baby Nut is all grown up and turning 21 (we bet his drink of choice is Screwball Whiskey). Like many others, Peanut Jr. had a quarantine birthday, so PLANTERS will be giving three people $2,100 who also had their birthday during quarantine. All you have to do is share your ideal birthday gift on Twitter with the #MakeMyBirthdayNuts and #Sweepstakes. Those who didn't have a birthday during quarantine are salty and currently roasting Peanut Jr. on social media.

Fast Food Frenzy

When guac is extra but so are you

Chipotle is using its avocado pits as dye for its new sustainable clothing line and we bet the merch will be an extra $5. The restaurant just dropped The Chipotle Goods collection which includes a tee shirt, a tote, and a crewneck sweatshirt using the natural dye. According to Chipotle's press release, 300 million avocado pits go to waste in its restaurants every year and it only requires five avocado pits to dye one product (which is roughly equivalent to five orders of guac). Not gonna lie, we expected the color to be green, but it actually ends up more of a peach color. But yea I guess we're idiots because the pit isn't green...

The crave is a powerful thing

In White Castles' newest marketing campaign, "Cocktails and Cravings," they're taking their most popular menu items and pairing it with homemade craft cocktails. The VP of the slider joint said, "We created these to help people enjoy the short nights and long days of summer, but now these pairings will be even more appreciated as people spend more late nights at home." For example, the 'Midnight Merlot Punch' goes well with a classic Cheese Slider, 'Orange Afterglow' compliments the Original Slider, and the 'Castillo Rosado Margarita' matches up with the Jalapeno Cheese Slider. As if we need more to drink after our black-out state was the only reason we got square burgers in the first place.
