The Weekly Donut: Coronut Edition

Get ready to indulge in all things food news...

Coronuts are not to be confused with Cronuts

Most restaurants in the U.S. are shut down because of coronavirus, but there's still an option to participate in take out. But if I can deal with my mom feeding me chicken casserole for every meal, then I think you will be fine eating at home. I won't be taking the risk of getting to-go food, unless the restaurant is offering free coronavirus tests with every order. But, if you truly can't eat any more of your mom's meatloaf (YOU'RE WEAK), then make sure you follow these protocols when ordering food.

Pop(corn) Culture

There's a Clueless themed pop-up restaurant opening in LA and people are totally buggin.' The restaurant, obviously named "As If!," will cost $35 and include a main dish, a side dish, "Cher-able" snacks, access to merchandise, and photo ops. As of now, the opening is delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. *cue skinny influencers in plaid mini skirts crying*

Last time, we told you about Kim and Kanye ordering at KFC. Now, KFC continues to thirst out at the fact that even Kim and Kanye love their buckets of fried chicken. The fast food chain had the audacity to send Kim Kardashian-West this atrocity. And for legal reasons, we need to warn you that you should only click the link if you are 18+. These platform Crocs, adorned with full sized chicken wing jibbitz, were sent to Kim as a PR box for the KFC x Crocs collection coming this Spring. Unfortunately for us common folk, the platform version won't be available. Bummer.

Chef José Andrés is the GOAT

José Andrés, a world renowned chef, philanthropist, and bestselling author, transformed his restaurants into community kitchens. In an interview, Andrés says, "We cannot leave the communities alone... The idea is that when people are in the neighborhood, they may need food. He also mentions that Congressional help for the restaurant industry will be needed " because America needs to be fed." #Andrés2020

Fast Food Frenzy

Ice-screaming because of what's going on in the world

Ben & Jerry's has indefinitely postponed its annual Free Cone day amid growing concerns of coronavirus. The company released a statement saying, "This year, some of our scoop shops in communities around the world will be unable to take part in Free Cone Day due to precautions put in place by local governments around large public gatherings... So, to stand in solidarity with ice cream lovers everywhere, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Free Cone Day this year. We hope to reschedule our global Free Cone Day event for later in the year, when we know more." Honestly, we're not that upset because we think our time is more valuable than spending 2 hours in line to get a cone that only would have cost us $5.

Starbucks announces they will be closing their stores for two weeks, but their drive-thrus will still be open. Stores without a drive-thru will be closed down completely to help limit customer contact. We knew this would be the inevitable after Starbucks stopped refilling reusable cups earlier this month. The global-warming crisis is next.
